Winter Activity Centre

Trails at Pippy Park are open for public use for users with their own equipment. The Winter Activity Centre in North Bank Lodge is scheduled to open on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Pippy Park campground is transformed into groomed trails suitable for both classic cross-country and skate skiing, as well as snowshoeing. Trails are free to use and some may be lit for evening use. 

Due to construction in Pippy Park, new routes have been developed, see may below.

Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals 

We offer classic cross-country skis and snowshoe equipment rentals at the Winter Activity Centre. Equipment is available to rent for all ages including cross-country skis, boots, snowshoes and poles. Weather and snow conditions will affect operations. Please call the Snow Info Line once the centre is open at 709-737-3651 for the updated hours of operation based on trail conditions.

Users must fill out a waiver in person or in advance. 

Equipment Rental Waiver

Rental hours of operation: 

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Saturday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Equipment rental prices:

• Individual person: $5 per hour
• Family of three people: $10 per hour
• Family of four to six people: $15 per hour

Payment is accepted by debit/credit only. 

Drop-in ski lessons available

Learn the basics of classic cross-country skiing in a group lesson at the Winter Activity Centre in Pippy Park. 

Lessons are first come, first serve and weather dependent. Please call the snow line at 709-737-3651, for information regarding the status of the lesson. 

Accessibility

Accessible parking is available on site and an accessible entrance is located at the front of the building. A sit ski is available at the centre and other winter adaptive equipment may be reserved in advance through the Adaptive Equipment Loan Program.
