Community Centre Rentals
Most of our community centres are available for rent. They can be booked for a variety of functions including birthday parties, baby or bridal showers, family gatherings, community and corporate events or sports activities. For a description of each facility, visit our community centres webpage.

Rental Guidelines
- At the Kenmount, Southlands and Kilbride Community Centre's:
- birthday party rentals will be two hours in duration and shower rentals will be three hours in duration.
- Parties have access to the full gymnasium, activity area and kitchen; showers have access to the activity area and kitchen. There is no gymnasium at the Kilbride Community Centre.
- Renters will have access to the facility 15 minutes prior to scheduled booking time and must depart at the rental end time.
- There is absolutely no alcohol or smoking (including e-cigarettes) permitted in our facilities.
- Food, drink or helium balloons are not permitted in our gymnasiums.
- Decorations are permitted in the party room and must be removed after the party. No tape or tacks allowed on walls.
- Party rooms are available during swimming or gym portion of rentals to allow for set-up, and a place for you to leave gifts and supplies.
- Renters must provide their own supplies and equipment (i.e. candles, utensils, etc.)
- Only approved outside vendors are permitted by the City; use of personal inflatables is strictly prohibited.
- All garbage/recycling must be placed in appropriate containers at the end of the event.
- The City of St. John's is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- For swimming events, children 10 and under must always be accompanied in the water by a 16+ year-old who must remain at arms-length. Minimum three children to one supervisor.
- Payment must be made at the time of booking, there is no holding of time slots.
- The City of St. John's reserves the right to cancel or change bookings. In such a case, a full refund will be granted.
- Cancellations/refunds must be requested 14 days in advance of the rental date. If a cancellation is received less than 14 days before the rental date, a refund or credit will not be issued. The City may consider medical reasons or special circumstances where less than 14 days notice is given.
- Payments by cash, cheque or debit are refunded by cheque only. Please allow up to four weeks for processing. Credit card payments will be issued back to the card.
- Renters are responsible for any damages to City property.
Pool Rentals
Pool space is available for private rentals at all of our swimming pools. Private rentals are a great way to enjoy a family gathering or a corporate fun day.

Please note: birthday party rentals do not require an Aquatics Rental Application. For further information or to book a birthday party, call 709-576-8499, 709-576-8631 or email recreation@stjohns.ca. Birthday party invitations are available for your use. Please note: you can click the drop down option to choose the pool you have booked.

Rotary Sunshine Park Rental
The Rotary Sunshine Park offers rentals for its chalet facility. To rent facilities at this park, please full out the application form.
Rent a Sport Facility
City outdoor sports facilities are listed on our Sports Fields and Courts page. Basketball and tennis courts are not available for rent.
To request a rental of others sports facilities, please complete the outdoor sport facility rental application form. To use a sports facility for a special event, please complete a special event application.
Please note that the opening and closing dates for all sport facilities is weather dependent. Summer seasonal facilities usually open in late May or early in the month of June.
Rentals at City Hall
Non-profits and charitable organizations may apply to host an event in the Foran Greene Room (fourth floor City Hall) or Wyatt Hall (second floor City Hall). There is a charge for use of these rooms.
- The Foran Greene Room holds 371 people standing and 195 with tables and chairs.
- All reservations are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The City reserves the right to cancel a booking should a civic priority occur.
- Parking in not available in the City Hall garage during regular working hours, and parking after hours is dependent on whether or not there is an event scheduled at the Mary Brown's Centre.
- User must provide proof of insurance.
- Rules regarding alcohol, security, access to the kitchen and other details are found in the Room Usage Agreement.
