With approximately 1,200 employees and an annual operating budget of $343.9 million, the City of St. John's is a large organization.

Operating efficiently and effectively are top strategic priorities for our Mayor and Council. We are focused on engaging with the public, ensuring we are meeting all legislative requirements and - most of all - on delivering quality services.

Mayor and Council

Council is the main governing and legislative body for the City of St. John's. It consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, five ward councillors and 4 councillors-at-large.
