Municipal elections take place every four years on a date set by the provincial government for all municipalities in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Municipal Election determines your municipal governance for the next four years. Casting your ballot allows you to elect officials who will make decisions on your behalf.
The current St. John's City Council was elected on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. A by-election took place on March 12 for a vacancy in Ward 4 and on November 5 for Ward 3.
The next general election will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Please check back for important election dates approximately 4-5 months before the election.
