The City of St. John's provides a broad range of services to residents, businesses and visitors through its various departments and divisions.

The City employs approximately 1400 unionized and non-unionized employees.

St. John's Sports & Entertainment Limited

St. John's Sports & Entertainment Limited (SJSEL) is a separate legal entity. The Board of Directors is appointed by Council. SJSEL runs both the Mary Brown's Centre and the St. John's Convention Centre.

St. John's Transportation Commission

City Council appoints the St. John's Transportation Commission to oversee the operations of the Metrobus public transit service. This includes conventional as well as para-transit service delivery. The Commission is governed by the St. John's Transportation Commission by-law as opposed to being a separate legal entity.
