Emergency Management

The City of St. John's Emergency Management Plan is a tool to assist emergency personnel in their response to such situations. The plan ensures:

• a centralized response to emergencies
• that staff are trained annually
• that we conduct regular emergency exercises

Two Emergency Operations Centres (EOC's) are maintained and tested regularly. The plan also includes mitigation, prevention and recovery strategies for City departments.

Our Emergency Services division:

• maintains the Emergency Management Plan
• promotes of public education and awareness
• identifies major risks and critical infrastructure within the City
• develops continuity plans when risks cannot be mitigated
