Permit Fees and Rates

Building and Demolition Permits

For one and two-family dwellings including extensions to existing, the permit fees are calculated on area.

$8 per square metre for all development above grade
$5 per square metre for all development below grade and attached garages
$3 per square metre for unfinished below grade areas

A $1000 refundable deposit for residential landscaping is required prior to approval or a permit being issued by the City.

For development in areas where municipal services are not available, a $2000 refundable culvert/septic deposit is required.

For all other construction including demolition, renovations, repairs, fences, accessory buildings and other miscellaneous structures, the permit fee is based on construction value.

Estimated construction value up to $100,000: $9 per $1,000 of construction value; minimum permit: $50
Estimated construction value over $100,000: $9 per $1,000 of the first $100,000; $7.20 per every $1,000 after

Note: Separate permits are required for electrical and plumbing work. If the value changes upon completion of the project, revised estimates will be required and permit fees may be adjusted accordingly.

Plumbing Permits

For each new fixture installed or roughed-in, including special fixture: $18.48 (minimum permit: $42.24)
Plumbing renovation without the replacement or addition of fixtures: $42.24

For the connection of existing plumbing system to each City water or sewer service: $21.12
Water turn on fee: $66 (new construction only)

Note: The maximum number of plumbing inspections for a single-family dwelling is four, after which a $200 fee may be imposed for each additional inspection as determined by Inspection Services.

Includes new construction, additions, alterations, repairs or miscellaneous structures including accessory buildings.

Residential (one and two family dwellings)

100 amp (new service or upgrade): $145.20 + 1% of estimated cost of electrical work
125 amp (new service or upgrade): $181.50 + 1% of estimated cost of electrical work
