Winter Activity Centre Now Open

People snowshoeing in the woods during winter, with lots of snow on the ground and in the trees.

The Winter Activity Centre in the North Bank Lodge at Pippy Park is opening for the season at noon on Wednesday, January 11.

During the winter, the Pippy Park campground is transformed into an area suitable for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Trails are lit for evening use and there is no cost to use the trails.

Rent Equipment

Snowshoes and classic cross-country skis are available for rent at the Winter Activity Centre. Payment is accepted by cash, debit and credit. Identification is required to rent skis and snowshoes. Skiing and snowshoeing are weather dependent, and conditions can change daily. Call the Winter Activity Centre info line at 709-737-3651 for updates.

Hours of operation

Tuesday to Friday - noon to 9 p.m.

Saturday - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rental rates

Individual person: $5

Family of three people: $10

Family of four to six people: $15

Adaptive Equipment

Adaptive equipment is available to individuals who require their use. Equipment must be pre-booked by calling 576-6972 or emailing inclusion@stjohns.ca.

Lessons

Learn the basics of classic cross-country skiing, and drop-in for a group lesson. Family lessons are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Adult lessons on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Please call the Info Line at 737-3651 for more information.
