Traffic Impacts for Memorial Day Events

Due to Memorial Day events, please note the following traffic impacts in the City of St. John’s for Saturday, June 29 and Monday, July 1.

Note: Closures may change without notice due to operational and public safety requirements.

The following are in place to facilitate parade planning.

Various times – see below

Harbour Drive (from Bishop’s to Beck’s Cove) - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Beck’s Cove - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Water Street (from Prescott Street to Cochrane Street) - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Holloway Street (from Prescott Street to Cochrane Street) - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
St. John’s Lane (from Prescott Street to Cochrane Street) - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Please provide right of way to the practice parade group and police that will be in the area throughout the day.

The following are in place to facilitate official ceremonies marking the 100th anniversary of the Newfoundland National War Memorial and the re-interment of the remains of an unknown Newfoundland First World War soldier. Please note, during this time, travelling and parking in the downtown area will be challenging. Motorists are advised to avoid this area if possible.

Duckworth Street (from Prescott Street to Cochrane Street) – 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Harbour Drive (from Waldegrave to Clift Baird’s Cove) – 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Water Street (from Bishop’s Cove to Prescott Street) – 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. (in alignment with the closure of the pedestrian mall)
Water Street (from Job’s Cove to Cochrane Street) – 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Beck’s Cove – 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Arye’s Cove – 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
