The snow mostly stopped by 11:00 a.m., with reported accumulations ranging from 72 to 80 cm. Blowing snow continues to impact many areas, causing drifting and low visibility.
By 10 p.m. on Sunday, most streets will be cleared within the City. Currently, crews continue to focus on making first cuts on all streets. Most sidewalks will require large snow blowers, and many require complete snow removals. Crews will continue to focus on priority areas.
Snow removal and widening are required in many areas, and the City will provide updates throughout the week as these operations commence. Crews are working as fast as possible, and we ask that residents refrain from calling the Access Centre withs requests for snow removal or widening on streets. We are closely monitoring the situation and assure you we will address the needs on a priority bases.
Please be advised that the 24 hour parking ban is still in effect, with an update to be provided tomorrow. We also would like to remind all residents and contractors to not place snow from driveways or parking lots back into the street or on sidewalks. This creates major challenges and slows down snow clearing operations significantly.
We thank all residents for their understanding and patience as we continue to work 24/7 to cleanup the City.
