We still have space in a variety of our recreation programs. We offer a diverse range of activities for individuals to explore and engage in various hobbies. Whether it's bridge, line dancing, ballroom dance, or learning to play a new instrument, there’s something for everyone. We also have space in our preschool program.
Bridge level one for beginners introduces participants to the trick taking card game using a deck of cards with two competing partnerships.

Bridge level 3 is for advanced bridge players, completion of bridge level 2 is required.

This fall prevention fitness class will help older adults improve balance and flexibility to decrease the risk of falls.
Southlands Community Centre: Tuesdays & Thursdays, Jan. 9 to Mar 28 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Socialize with friends, while enjoying music and games.

This class will cover tuning, instrument care, technique and positioning. Learn to play a minimum of three traditional fiddle tunes in a group setting.
Play by Ear Beginner Guitar . No previous music theory required. Learn tuning, strumming and picking techniques, enough chords to play a dozen songs, instrument care and how to properly use a capo.
Learn how to play the keyboard (piano) and how to read music. For those with little or no experience. Keyboard provided.

H.G.R. Mews Community Centre: Wednesdays, Jan. 10 to Mar. 27 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Dance instruction in this course is limited primarily to Foxtrot, Jive and Waltz. Intended for beginners & those wishing to improve their basic skills. Partner required.
Paul Reynolds Community Centre: Wednesdays, Jan.10 to Mar. 27 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
For those with some ballroom experience. This class will teach intermediate and advanced jive and sequence dances for waltz, two step, cha cha, tango and more. Partner required.
A part time preschool program that focuses on socialization, early educational concepts, physical literacy with a focus on fundamentals, basic movement and skills taught through fun activities. Staff will build on children's interests and abilities and offer age-appropriate activities and learning centres.
A safety and life skills program for children (Grade 4 to 6) to develop independence to be un-supervised for short periods of time. Topics include online safety, fire safety, street smarts, emergency response, healthy eating and a home readiness plan.
Bring a lunch. The City of St. John's cannot guarantee that children taking this course will be adequately prepared or responsible to remain at home without adult supervision.
