On April 23, the City of St. John’s was alerted to a malware incident involving its CurbItStJohns.ca website. The website was made unavailable to users while the issue was being investigated, and the malware was quickly identified and removed. Following additional security measures being put in place, the website is now available again to the public.
Out of an abundance of caution for cyber security, the City will not be providing details of how the malware was installed or additional security measures that have been put in place.
To our knowledge, there has been no adverse incidents or data breaches resulting from this malware attack. As a precaution, we encourage residents to be vigilant when browsing websites.
