The City of St. John's will be conducting roadside pruning operations beginning November 14, 2022, continuing until March 31, 2023.
The purpose of this operation is to prune low hanging branches that interfere with pedestrian or vehicular traffic and create sightline issues. To ensure unobstructed and safe passage, branches must be pruned to a height of approximately 2.4 metres (8 feet) over the sidewalk and 4.2 metres (14 feet) over the road.
Pruning operation will be performed following arboricultural best practices; most branches will be shortened back to points of attachment nearest the edge of the right of way, rather than the removal of the entire branch. Branches above 4.2 metres in height will be allowed to develop normally. Broken, dead or decayed material will be corrected or removed as required.
