The slipway in Quidi Vidi off Cadet Road has reached its end of life and is no longer safe to use. As such, the City of St. John’s is looking for feedback from residents and visitors on how they currently use the area and options that will maintain access to the water. Anyone who uses the area or has an interest in the area can provide their feedback.
“The City has reached out to residents and property owners in Quidi Vidi to share their feedback on how they use the slipway and what they would like to see in the future,” says Ward 2 Councillor Ophelia Ravencroft. “We understand providing water access is important to Quidi Vidi Village residents, and that the slipway has played a significant role in their history, culture, and way of life. We now want to hear from all slipway users to guide our recommendations; their feedback will be important in guiding Council as we make future investments into the area.”
City staff will review feedback collected and share what was heard back with the community and Council. Ultimately, the information gathered will help inform staff in making recommendations to council on the best solution for the area.
Engagement is open from June 26 to July 12. Learn more about the project at EngageStJohns.ca. Feedback can be provided through tools on the project page, via email to engage@stjohns.ca, or by calling 311 and asking to speak to a member of the project team.
