Starting Monday, Sept. 12, and continuing until November 30, the City will be conducting routine hydrant testing and flushing. This work is required to collect flow and pressure data to improve the City’s water distribution network.
Hydrant testing and flushing will occur weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. It is not anticipated that all areas of the City will be impacted during the duration of this work. Specific areas where hydrants will be tested and flushed will be communicated daily via the website and to subscribed members of the City’s e-updates notification system for water advisories.
Residents in the immediate vicinity may notice temporary changes in their water service, including low water pressure, discolouration and/or cloudiness, or slight changes in the taste or smell of water. Residents experiencing water changes are asked to run the cold water tap in a sink until it clears.
Residents are also reminded to refrain from doing laundry where possible while flushing continues to lessen the likelihood of clothes becoming stained by discoloured water.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Access St. John's at 311 or 754-CITY (2489).
