The City of St. John’s together with the St. John’s Port Authority and industry partners, look forward to an even brighter and busier cruise season in 2023.
After a two-year absence, the cruise industry made an encouraging return last year. This year, the Norwegian Dawn is the first ship scheduled to arrive in St. John’s, with approximately 3,000 passengers expected on April 24. In total, there are 36 cruise ships from 21 cruise lines scheduled to arrive between the months of April and October, with more than 43,000 passengers expected to experience all that our City has to offer.
“We are looking forward to a busy season for our hospitality industry, tourism partners, and downtown business community,” said Councillor Hanlon, Council representative for Cruise Tourism. “Together, we are ready to welcome people from all over the world, and to deliver on the unique experiences and warm hospitality that Newfoundland and Labrador is known for.”
Cruise operations provide an economic benefit to our city, small businesses, and tour operators. Spending by passengers, cruise lines and crew in 2019 was estimated at $10 million for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
“As we prepare for the return of cruise operations, I want to thank everyone involved in raising the profile of St. John’s as an internationally-preferred cruise destination and for continuing to deliver world-class experiences to the visitors from around the world,” said Bob McCarthy, Vice President, Development, St. John’s Port Authority.
A full list of the cruise ships coming to port this season can be found on the City of St. John’s website at Cruise Ship Information and Schedules - City of St Johns.
