The City of St. John’s is seeking performers for 2024 special events. Our annual Call for Performers helps the City program arts and cultural performances for special events like the Music @ concert series, Downtown Pedestrian Mall performances, Dockside Welcomes and other City of St. John’s-hosted events and festivals.
We invite solo and group applications in all the performing arts disciplines. The deadline to apply is the final Friday in March. Please complete the online application form.
These performances showcase the incredible and diverse musical talent the city has to offer. Audiences are a mix of visitors and residents. Performances span genres such as jazz, folk, pop and more. Main acts are preceded by a youth performer opening act, coordinated separately through a partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society. Main act performances are approximately 45 minutes long.
The City engages a variety of performers to enhance and animate the Downtown Pedestrian Mall throughout the summer, including pop-up sidewalk performances.
The City offers programming to welcome cruise ship passengers. An animated introduction to our city and province is provided through music, song and/or dance. The program is designed to be informative, entertaining and engaging while showcasing Newfoundland’s talent.
Performances at City of St. John’s-hosted events and festivals reach a variety of individuals in a family‐friendly environment. Performance requirements vary based on the event or festival. City of St. John’s-hosted events and festivals take place at various times throughout the year and may include Canada Day celebrations, New Year’s Eve celebrations and others as required.
