The City of St. John's grants and subsidies program makes available financial and other resources to nonprofit groups, organizations and individuals whose programming supports the City’s strategic directions.
For 2023, community grants total $1,233,075 and capital grants total $ 482,000 plus $51,086.77 in waived permit fees.
This year’s program provides assistance to 124 community groups and organizations and 62 individual artists. 27 recipients are new for 2023.
“We recognize the impact that community groups, organizations and artists have on the vibrancy and livability of St. John’s, which is why we are so pleased to offer the grant program each year,” said Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary, lead Councillor for Community Services. “We are also pleased to see new groups and individuals coming forward and applying for the grants program.”
Community grant applications are received in the following categories:
Capital grants are awarded to eligible applicants for capital purchases, such as building repairs or construction.
Applicants are reviewed by the internal grants committee while grants to artists are reviewed by a jury of their peers.
