The Building Safer Communities Grant Program provides funding to community-based service providers to develop or strengthen crime and violence prevention and intervention initiatives or programs for children, youth, young adults, and their families in the City of St. John’s. This grant program is made possible thanks to a three-year funding commitment from Public Safety Canada, announced in February 2023, to enhance community safety and collaboration.
Approximately $575,000 in grant funding will be awarded for projects ending by March 2026. The maximum amount that can be awarded to community-based service providers is $150,000. However, depending on the scope of the proposed project and the number of partnerships involved, additional funds may be available.
