Applause Awards Nominations Extended Until March 8

The 2024 St. John's Applause Awards nomination period has been extended until March 8, 2024. 

Do you know someone who makes a difference in our city? Nominate someone deserving for an Applause Award today! 

The civic awards program recognizes inspiring and impactful individuals, groups and organizations whose contributions and achievements help make our city a great place to live, learn, work, play and visit. 

Nominations are open for over a dozen awards in eight major award categories. To submit a nomination, please complete the nomination forms for each award category at StJohns.ca/Applause by March 8, 2024. 

Categories

Athlete of the Year: The City is inviting members of the public to nominate individuals for the male and female Athletes of the Year and Team of the Year.

Climate Change Leadership Awards: This award recognizes individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in climate change action. Nominations are accepted in two categories - Corporate Climate Leadership Award and Community Climate Leadership Award.

Heritage Awards: Various awards to recognize commercial and residential property owners of Heritage buildings or buildings in a Heritage Area for their work in rehabilitating, restoring and celebrating our rich built heritage. 

Volunteer of the Year: Recognizes residents and groups who have volunteered their time to build a healthy city. Awards are presented in Youth, Community Group and Adult/Senior categories. 

Tourism Awards: The City of St. John's honours the very best in the tourism industry every year through a variety of award categories. 

Youth of The Year: Open to residents 12 to 18 years old who - through their volunteering, extracurricular activities, and community involvement - have helped make St. John’s a better place to live. Nominations are accepted for Junior and Senior Youth of The Year. 

Senior of The Year: Recognizes a senior 60 years of age or older who has made significant volunteer contributions to the city by improving the quality of life for citizens through community involvement.
