Addressing Affordable Housing Through Innovative Design

Achieving our affordable housing goals requires creativity in the housing market. These means offering diverse housing options that meet the needs of residents while integrating into our unique neighbourhoods.

If you have an interest in this market and want to learn more about emerging approaches in housing, you will want to attend an upcoming session, hosted by the City.

The Innovative Housing Design Information Session on March 28, 2023 from 10 a.m.to 12 noon at the Foran Greene Room in City Hall aims to build knowledge and traction around emerging approaches to housing. Our guest speakers will share their knowledge and experience working on innovative housing projects, universal design, and overcoming challenges when introducing new approaches to housing.

The City of St. John's believes affordable housing is a foundation for a safe, prosperous and healthy community. The City's 10-year Affordable Housing Strategy examines housing solutions across the continuum. It focuses on creating housing for those is the growing affordability gap - those with incomes too high for a housing subsidy but too low to afford market rental or ownership options.
