The City of St. John's would like to advise the public of five amendments to its by-laws which were approved at the Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 9. The amendments are detailed below.
The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Plumbing (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.
The amendment will make the process by which certification is accepted and authorizations of the use of the plumbing system more efficient.
The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Commercial Maintenance (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.
The amendment is to add provisions related to the securing and maintenance of vacant commercial buildings and the certification and working condition of heating systems.
The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Electrical (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.
The amendment is to update the reference to the Canadian Electrical Code 2024, and to make the process by which certification is accepted and the authorization of the supply of electrical energy more efficient.
The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Sign (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.
The amendment is to revise provisions related to the enforcement of signs placed on utility poles.
The St. John’s Municipal Council has enacted the St. John’s Open Air Fire Regulations (Amendment No. 1-2024) By-Law.
The amendment is to cover the equipment people currently use for outdoor fires and to modernize provisions of the By-Law in consultation with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
