The City is considering a text amendment to the St. John’s Development Regulations, that would amend the standards to the Institutional Zone. This would enable the adaptive reuse of existing and former church properties that are located in the Institutional (INST) Zone.
The proposed amendment would delete most standards in the Institutional Zone except for building height. New buildings could be constructed as high as 23 metres, except 50 Tiffany Lane where the maximum building height is 72 metres. Existing buildings that are already higher than 23 metres will be able to continue to exist at that height but could not build higher.
The proposed changes can be found on the Planning St. John’s webpage at engagestjohns.ca. The Planning St. John's webpage allows the public to learn more about planning applications, track progress, give feedback and ask questions all in one place.
