Residents and visitors are invited to come downtown for an exciting weekend of free holiday activities on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. each day.
Saturday will feature pop up holiday performances and roaming mummers throughout Water Street and Duckworth Street to enhance the festive atmosphere of downtown St. John’s. Check out the interactive musical tree forest at the open space near LSPU Hall stairs, on the corner of Duckworth Street and Prescott Street.
On Sunday, we’re hosting a family friendly concert on George Street featuring Rum Ragged, Swinging Belles, Co-Video Collective, Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and Untellable Movement Theatre. George Street will feature holiday displays, lights, decorations, photo backdrops and free hot chocolate. Trinity Pub will be hosting their popular Trinity Market with a variety of vendors.
During the concert on Sunday a series of short videos will feature individuals, businesses, and community organizations who have demonstrated resilience and successes throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
In case of inclement weather, the Holiday Fair will take place on December 17 and 18.
Accessibility
On Sunday, Dec. 11, additional accessible parking will be available on the south side of George Street, between Queen Street and Adelaide Street. The accessible viewing area for the concert is on Duckworth Street, overlooking George Street Stage, on a first come, first serve basis.
