At the March 11, 2025 City Council Meeting, over $1.8 million was approved for Community and Capital Grants. For 2025, community grants total $1,312,500 and capital grants total $489,630 plus $43,127 in waived permit and development fees.
The City of St. John's grants and subsidies program makes available financial and other resources to nonprofit organizations and individuals whose programming supports the City’s strategic directions.
“We are proud to support the community groups, organizations, and artists who make St. John’s a more dynamic and welcoming place,” said Councillor Jill Bruce, lead Councillor for Community Services. “Their work strengthens our city’s cultural and social fabric, and it’s wonderful to see new applicants getting involved in the grants program this year.”
This year’s Community Grant program provides assistance to 113 community organizations and 76 individual artists, with 38 new recipients.
Community grant applications are received in the following categories:
For 2025, 11 organizations received Capital Grants, which are awarded to eligible applicants for capital purchases, such as building repairs or construction.
Applicants are reviewed by the internal grants committee while grants to artists are reviewed by a jury of their peers.
