City Awards Building Safer Communities Grants

On March 5, 2024, St. John’s City Council approved $477,000 as part of the Building Safer Communities Grant Program to support community-based service providers in developing or strengthening crime and violence prevention and intervention initiatives for children, youth, young adults, and their families.

World Poetry Day – Poetry Reading Event

The City of St. John’s will host a Poetry Reading Event on March 21 in recognition of World Poetry Day.

• Date: Thursday, March 21
• Time: 7 p.m.
• Location: Foran Greene Room, 4th Floor, City Hall

The event will be hosted by the City’s Poet Laureate Mark Callanan and feature the following six poets:

Ward 4 By-Election Voting Information

On Tuesday, March 12, residents living in Ward 4 of the City of St. John's will elect a new Councillor. The candidates who have been successfully nominated are:

Funding Now Available for Heritage Maintenance and Conservation

If you own a house or commercial property in a Heritage Area or if you own a designated Heritage Building, the City of St. John’s is now accepting applications for maintenance or conservation funding.

The City’s Heritage Financial Incentives Program aims to conserve heritage resources by assisting property owners with grant funding available each year. Since the incentive program began in 2016, over $354,000 in grant funding has been awarded to 137 successful applicants.
