Text Amendment - Daycare Centre

Description
The City is considering a text amendment to the St. John’s Development Regulations, that would amend the Daycare Centre regulations to bring them more in line with the requirements and terminology used by the Province, allow Family Child Care Services (a daycare within a home) as a Permitted Use within various residential zones, and allow Daycare Centre as a Permitted Use in various commercial and institutional zones. Contractors may be working on the following streets from November 13 to 18 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Motorists are advised that the traffic lights will be shut down starting at 9:00 a.m. to facilitate the ongoing work in this area. Flag persons will be on site directing traffic. Motorists should anticipate delays and use alternate routes where possible. Power will be restored by end of the day.

Historical Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park Reopens to Public Following Rehabilitation

The City of St. John’s is pleased to announce the reopening of the Bowring Park Cantilever Bridge, which was closed in May for repair and maintenance work to rehabilitate the bridge.
The Cantilever Bridge is a significant Heritage structure in St. John’s which received Provincial and Municipal Heritage Designation in 2020 due to its age, architectural and environmental values.
