Yard Waste Collection Begins May 1

Starting Mon. May 1 and running through to the end of November, yard waste will be collected at the curb on the same day as your recycling. 

The yard waste collection program is suitable for:

• Leaves
• grass clippings
• plants, shrubs and weeds
• twigs and small branches with a maximum diameter of 2.5 centimeters. 

All yard waste must be placed in paper yard waste bags. Twigs and branches can be tied in bundles measuring a maximum of 60 cm by 60 cm by 30 cm (2ft x 2ft x 1ft). There is no limit to the amount...

Downtown Street Cleaning Begins April 30

The scheduled overnight street cleaning in the Downtown will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The program starts on Sunday, April 30 and continues until Friday, September 22. Vehicles must be removed from streets scheduled for cleaning.

Cruise Ship Norwegian Dawn Cancels Visit

Due to the presence of sea ice, the Norwegian Dawn – originally scheduled to arrive on Monday, April 24 – has cancelled her visit to St. John’s. The next ship scheduled to arrive in our port is the Silver Shadow, with 388 passengers, on June 6, 2023.

Repairs Planned for Historical Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park

This summer, repairs are planned to rehabilitate the Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park, with construction scheduled to begin in early May and be completed by the end of July.

The construction project involves concrete rehabilitation, graffiti removal, replacing handrailing, waterproofing and paving the bridge deck.
