The City of St. John’s, after seeking expressions of interest for a temporary tenant, has awarded a lease for the Bannerman Park canteen to the Ukrainian National Federation Avalon (UNF Avalon).
UNF Avalon will operate the canteen until the end of September, offering sweet and savoury snacks, a variety of beverages, and ice cream. The canteen will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (subject to change).
In fall 2024, the City plans to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to find a long-term tenant.

Please be advised that the swimming pool at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre is closed due to maintenance for the remainder of the day on Monday, July 29. An update will be provided when the pool will reopen. The rest of the community centre remains open.

Street Rehab – July 29 to August 3
Contractors may be working on the following streets from July 29 to August 3 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

In accordance with section 22 of the Councillor Code of Conduct, Ward 3 Councillor Jamie Korab will be on unpaid leave while he seeks election in the Provincial Government Waterford Valley By-Election. This leave of absence will be in effect until election day, which is August 22. Should Councillor Korab be successful in the election, he will be required to resign from City Council.
