This holiday season consider giving the gift of play to a child in need by donating to the REAL Program.
The REAL Program is a nonprofit program that provides recreation and leisure opportunities to children and youth in financial need by matching them with an organized recreational activity of their choice. It costs approximately $200 to provide a program or class space for one young person.

The 2025 Canada Games Host Society is inviting students in grades 4-6 in Newfoundland and Labrador to design the official mascot of the 2025 Canada Games.
Youth are asked to create a mascot that’s either an object, animal, or character that reflects the identity, culture, and heritage of St. John’s and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from November 20 to 25 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Ring in the holiday season with our 22nd annual celebration of music and lights at Bowring Park Duck Pond on Saturday, December 2 at 5 p.m. The event will feature local entertainment as we officially light up the duck pond. Saturday, November 18 - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists are advised that the traffic lights at the Allandale Road/Bonaventure Avenue/Elizabeth Avenue intersection will be shut down starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, November 18 to facilitate paving in the area. Flag persons will be on site directing traffic. Motorists should anticipate delays and use alternate routes where possible. Power will be restored by 5 p.m.

Each year, Council ratifies the City of St. John's' annual budget and sets the mill rates in December for the upcoming year. The budget outlines the City's projected revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year.
