The City will be completing sewer cleaning and video inspections on Water Street from Queen Street to Prescott Street between April 29 and May 10. The sewer cleaning will begin on the west end of Water Street at Queen Street, then move east to Prescott Street. This work is required to assist with the planning for the complete rehabilitation of the brick sewer which is the final step of the Water Street Infrastructure Improvement Project to be completed at a later date.

In celebration of the provincial Year of the Arts, the City of St. John’s invites visual artists to submit digital artwork for signage that will adorn decorative light poles throughout the Downtown Pedestrian Mall on Water Street. The digital artwork should be high-resolution artwork file(s) or scalable vector-based artwork file(s).

Downtown street cleaning begins on April 28 and continues until September 20. Cleaning occurs between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on scheduled streets. Please ensure vehicles are off the streets during cleaning.
The downtown street cleaning schedule is set for the entire season. It is the driver’s responsibility to check the schedule and move their vehicles accordingly. The City of St. John’s does not post signs for street cleaning.

Construction has resumed on Kelly’s Brook Trail between Guy Street and Newtown Road, and will continue eastward from Newtown Road to Carpasian Road through the 2024 construction season.
