The City of St. John’s Executive Summary Report on Revenue and Expenditure for Fiscal 2023 was presented at the regular meeting of City Council today by Councillor Ron Ellsworth, lead councillor for Finance and Administration. This report shows that for 2023 the City had an operating surplus of $9.03M or 2.67% of budget. The report also shows the City has an accumulated cash surplus as of December 31, 2023, of $20.6M. The Visitor Information Centre, located at 348 Water Street, is closed due to a maintenance issue. It will reopen to the public during regular hours on Wednesday, July 24.

The Bolette with 1172 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, and depart at 6 p.m.

Motorists are advised that Freshwater Road between Elizabeth Avenue and Stamps Lane has reopened to the public and water has been restored as of 4:50 p.m. today, July 21, 2024.

Due to a major water main break, Freshwater Road between Elizabeth Avenue and Stamps Lane is closed effective immediately. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and local traffic. All other traffic will be detoured and should expect delays.
The City will provide an update once the road has reopened. The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
