Celebrate Seniors Day October 3

Seniors and older adults are invited to celebrate Seniors Day on October 3.
Join the celebration at this free event with information booths, light refreshments, prize draws and entertainment by the Salt Beef Junkies. The event will take place at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre from noon to 3:30 p.m. No registration is required and event is first come, first served. Parking is limited.

As we celebrate Welcome Week (September 13-22), the St. John’s Local Immigration Partnership is proud to announce it will be hosting its fourth annual My New St. John’s Expo for newcomers and friends. The Expo takes place Thursday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. John’s Community Market, 245 Freshwater Road. Admission is free.

The Seabourn Quest with 462 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, and depart on Wednesday, September 18 at 5 p.m. Jewel of the Seas with 2501 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, and depart at 5 p.m.

Street Rehab - September 16 to 21

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 16 to 21 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed on Monday, September 16 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.
