Fire Ban for SJRFD Jurisdiction: June 20, 2024

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department wishes to advise all citizens that due to the number and severity of wildfires in Labrador and the provincial fire ban that has been put in place across Newfoundland and Labrador, a fire ban is being implemented within the Region which includes the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, and Town of Paradise. National Indigenous Peoples Day (Observed) Holiday (June 24)

Please be advised that City offices and recreation facilities will be closed for National Indigenous Peoples Day (Observed) on Monday, June 24.

Please note the following:

• Garbage and recycling will be collected on Monday.
• The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is open for commercial users only from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• All City parking by-laws are still in effect including paid parking regulations as Monday is not a Shops Closing Holiday.

Canada Day/Memorial Day Events Announced

Annually the City of St. John's hosts Canada Day celebrations on July 1. All Canada Day events are accessible, and all activities are free of charge.

Sunrise Celebration (6 a.m. to 7 a.m.)

Pedestrian-Only Zone in Quidi Vidi Village Starts on June 21

The City of St. John’s is implementing a pedestrian-only zone in Quidi Vidi Village on weekends (Friday to Sunday) this summer, from June 21 to September 2.

This will be the fourth year of the pedestrian-only zone in Quidi Vidi Village, following positive feedback from residents and the community in previous years.

St. John's and Province to host International Soccer Event

The City of St. John’s in partnership with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Celebrate NL are thrilled to host the first soccer match of the International Summer Series between the Halifax Wanderers and the Ipswich Town FC. The soccer match will take place at King George V Park at 3 Carnell Drive on Sunday, July 14 at 1 p.m.
