The City of St. John’s is hosting its annual Party in the Park on Wednesday, July 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn by the Bowring Park Bungalow. Party in the Park is a free event for seniors which includes local entertainment along with light refreshments, giveaways and more.
This year’s entertainers are Clayton Coombs & Harris Porter, Paddy Burke, Elaine Dunphy, the Anchorman Barbershop Chorus and youth performer Brett Crane.

The City of St. John’s is pleased to announce that maintenance work has been completed and the pool, steam room and sauna at the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre will reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday, July 4. Swimming lessons and fitness classes will resume following their regular schedules.

Please be advised the closure of the pool, steam room and sauna at H.G.R. Mews Centre has been extended as we continue to complete maintenance work. The rest of the community centre remains open. An update will be provided on Thursday, July 4 by 11 a.m.

Please be advised that the Canada Day family fun event originally scheduled for King George V Park has been moved to the Techniplex on 39 Churchill Avenue due to weather conditions.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, municipalities were advised that the provincial fire ban would remain in place until July 31. Based on this information, the City of St. John’s made the difficult decision to cancel the fireworks planned for July 1.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from July 2 to 6 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:
