The Royal St. John’s Regatta is set to occur on Wednesday, August 2. If the weather is not suitable on August 2 and the Regatta Committee postpones the event, the following list pertains to whichever day the Royal St. John’s Regatta occurs.
All City offices and facilities are closed on Regatta Day.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from July 31 to August 5 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed from July 31 to August 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.

Each summer since 2014, the City of St. John’s hires a litter crew to clean the streets and areas of the city where litter tends to concentrate.
The 2023 crew are 75% through their contract and in that time have used 238 clear garbage bags to pick up more than two tonnes of litter from roadsides in St. John’s. This is approximately 20kg (44lbs) of litter picked up every day by each crew member!
