A joint investment of $11.8 million from the Provincial and Federal Governments and the City of St. John’s was announced today to enhance public transit infrastructure.

Due to the forecasted high temperatures and humidex, the annual Party in the Park will be cancelled for Wednesday, July 19. An announcement on whether or not the event can proceed on Thursday, July 20 will be made on Wednesday at noon.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from July 17 to 22 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

Bowring Park Pool and Splash Pad will close at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 13.
This closure is for necessary, unscheduled maintenance. The Pool and Splash Pad will reopen tomorrow with regular hours.

On Saturday, July 15, 2023 (back up rain date Sunday, July 16) at Bowring Park 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Dollar A Day, St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJFRD) and IAFF Local 1075 are raising the bucket for mental health and addictions care as part of the Fighting Chance program.
