The Provincial Government provided an update today regarding the refurbishment of the National War Memorial.
In July 2022, the Provincial Government announced it would partner with the Royal Canadian Legion – NL Command, Veterans Affairs Canada and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission on the refurbishment of the National War Memorial, including the repatriation of the remains of an unknown soldier from northern France. Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 14 to 19 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department wishes to advise all citizens that the fire ban, dated August 4, 2023, within the region which includes the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl and Town of Paradise is lifted effective immediately. Open fires will be permitted, however, please check with your local municipality to confirm if a burning permit is required from this Department.
