Motorists are advised there will be temporary lane reductions in place at the University Avenue and Prince Philip Drive intersection to facilitate preliminary construction works (i.e. exploratory digs) associated with the University Avenue Storm Sewer Upgrades project.
Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site. Traffic slowdowns and delays will be experienced, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route if possible.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 5 to 10 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:
Albany Street
Allandale Road
Brier Avenue
Calver Avenue
Cavendish Square
Columbus Drive (near Thorburn Road intersection)
Cornwall Avenue

The 2025 Canada Games Host Society is closing out the opening night of the One Year Out Celebrations with a bang. On Monday, August 5, at 10 p.m., a fireworks display will take place at Quidi Vidi Lake following the Community Baseball Game at St. Pat’s Ballpark.

Due to sewer line repairs, Empire Avenue between Newtown Road and Mayor Avenue, will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Access will be maintained for local traffic only. All other traffic, including buses and emergency vehicles, will be detoured. Please expect delays.

Two Cruise Ships are scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John's this weekend. The Seabourn Quest with 462 passengers is scheduled to arrive at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 2, and depart at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. The Norwegian Star with 3000 passengers is scheduled to arrive on Sunday, August 4, at 10 a.m. and depart at 7 p.m.
