Road Closure - Springdale Street (between Water Street & George Street West)

Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day)

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed on Thursday, January 16 and Friday, January 17 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.

Properly Place Waste

The City of St. John’s reminds residents that the correct placement of curbside waste helps keep our community clean and accessible for everyone. Waste carts, bins and bags must be placed at the curb:

• On the scheduled collection day only between 6-8 a.m., not the evening before
• Never placed on sidewalks

Improper placement can result in waste not being collected.

Residential Tax Bills - January to June 2025

As of January 10, 2025, the City of St. John's has sent all residential tax bills covering January to June 2025 to Canada Post for delivery. Residents should receive their bills soon - don’t forget to check your mailbox!

City Installing Cameras at George's Pond to Address Littering and Dumping

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, Ward 3 Councillor Greg Noseworthy was joined by Deputy Mayor O'Leary, At-Large Councillor Sandy Hickman, Ward 4 Councillor Tom Davis and community members for a clean-up in the George’s Pond area.
