The St. John’s Regional Fire Department wishes to remind all citizens that a fire ban is currently in effect within the Region which includes the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, and Town of Paradise. The fire ban that is currently in effect will be evaluated and updated by Friday, August 11.

The Celebrity Summit with 2450 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 7 a.m. on Thursday August 10 and depart at 7 p.m.

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed August 9 to 11
from 7:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.

Old Bay Bulls Road (south end) at Bay Bulls Road

Motorists are advised of the closure of Old Bay Bulls Road (south end) at the Bay Bulls Road intersection. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to pass through the closed section of Old Bay Bulls Road.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from August 7 to 12 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. The St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) wishes to advise all citizens that a fire ban is currently in effect within the region which includes the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, and Town of Paradise. The fire ban will remain in effect for a minimum of 7 days, with an update to be provided on Friday, August 11, 2023. This includes backyard firepits, chimineas, charcoal BBQs and open fires. Propane firepits and BBQs are permitted.
