With the recent announcement of Federal and Provincial funding for affordable housing, it’s a good time to highlight some ways the City of St. John’s can support affordable housing developments.
Recognizing the need for increased affordable housing supply in St. John’s, the City offers the following supports:

Due to the Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 7 all City offices and facilities will be closed.
Garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Friday, it will be collected on Saturday, April 8.
All City parking by-laws are still in effect, however paid parking will not be enforced as Friday is a Shops Closing Holiday.
The Residential drop-off and landfill at Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be closed on Friday.

Registration for the spring semester for swimming, Preschool and Afterschool programs takes place beginning 7 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 6. (Residents outside St. John's can sign up for our programs beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 11).

Residents are reminded that garbage put out at the curb for collection must be completely covered from April 1 through November 30. Acceptable covers include metal or plastic containers with a lid or a net.
Garbage is not permitted at the curb before 6 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. This measure is in place to reduce the amount of litter on streets, parks and open spaces.

Description
The City is considering a text amendment to the St. John’s Development Regulations that would add Health and Wellness Centre as a Permitted Use in the Commercial Kenmount (CK), Commercial Mixed Use (CM), Commercial Office (CO) and Commercial Office Hotel (COH) Zones.
This amendment is prompted by an application for a Pilates studio at 801 Water Street within the Commercial Mixed Use Zone.

DescriptionThe Home Occupation is for a family home childcare, which will be owner operated and accommodate up to seven children. The floor area will be 16m² and operate Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On-site parking is provided.
