Downtown Pedestrian Mall to Open June 20

The Downtown Pedestrian Mall (DPM) will open on June 20, and will run until September 2, 2024. Operating daily from noon until 10 p.m., Water Street from Adelaide Street to Prescott Street will transform into a bustling vehicle-free, people-friendly zone.

The City of St. John’s is proud to announce a new agreement with Food First NL and Stella’s Circle for the use of space at 77 Charter Ave, Suite 100. The deadline to apply for a vacancy that exists on the Built Heritage Experts Panel has been extended to June 30, 2024.

The Built Heritage Experts Panel provides expertise, opinion, and perspective about built heritage, its protection and designation in the City of St. John’s.

There’s space in our recreation programs: Camp Adventure, Outdoor Pursuits, Family Geocaching, Bike Trail Ride, Stand-Up Paddle Board Certification and various yoga programs.

Road Closure - Springdale Street (between Water Street & George West)

7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 11

Motorists are advised that Springdale Street, between Water Street and George Street West, will be closed on Tuesday, June 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to facilitate the ongoing construction of the JAG Hotel. A traffic detour will be in place.

Update - Detour Duckworth Street (King's Road to Holloway Street)

6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 14

A detour will be in place on Duckworth Street on June 14 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between King’s Road and Holloway Street, to facilitate construction related to the Provincial Government’s National War Memorial refurbishment project.

Emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will be also maintained for businesses in the area and business owners are encouraged to speak to the project representatives on site with any concerns.

Street Rehab - June 10 to 15

Contractors may be working on the following streets from June 10 to 15 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation.
