Today, Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary was joined by artist Molly Margaret and provincial government representatives at the official unveiling of a new mural on Harvey Road. The mural was created by Molly Margaret and Lily Taylor and celebrates the meaning of home to people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today, City Council approved an updated Traffic Calming Policy following public engagement and a comprehensive review of the former process in 2022.
The new policy clearly defines how to evaluate whether a given street is eligible for traffic calming, and what steps need to take place throughout the process. Property Assessments take place on a two-year assessment cycle and 2024 is a reassessment year. The City of St. John’s will be issuing assessments to property owners beginning in June 2023. The assessed value of everyone’s property is set as of a “base date.” This ensures that each property within the city is treated uniformly with all properties being assessed as of the same date.
