To celebrate Circular Economy Month, the City of St. John’s is giving away free compost at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility, located at 340 East White Hills Road, every Saturday in October from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The compost giveaway is self-serve. Please bring your own gloves, shovels, and buckets to collect a maximum of 250 litres, or approximately 12 five-gallon buckets per visit. Mechanical equipment is not permitted. If you're using an open truck or trailer, you will be required to...

Motorists are advised that Barnes Road (between Military Road and The Dardanelles will be closed to facilitate water and sewer work, however, access for local residents and emergency services will be maintained. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site. Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use an alternate route, if possible.

Motorists are advised that University Avenue between Prince Phillip Drive and Paton Street will be closed to traffic due to ongoing construction works associated with the University Avenue Storm Sewer Upgrades project.
Local access will be provided to properties located between Paton Street and the construction site; however, there will be no passage through the construction site. There will be no access from Prince Philip Drive.

Contractors may be working on the following streets from September 30 to October 5 under the City’s annual streets rehabilitation and infrastructure maintenance programs. Work could include concrete/street excavation, concrete work, paving, heater scarifying, utility adjustment, ditch cleaning and culvert installation. Commuters may experience traffic delays in these areas:
