Due to forecasted high winds, curbside waste collection will not occur on Friday, February 7. Collection will now take place on Saturday, February 8. Please place bags or bins at the curb between 6 and 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The City apologizes for any inconvenience.

The City of St. John’s has released its new Recreation Master Plan, a comprehensive framework designed to proactively manage the current and future provision of recreation facilities, spaces and programs. The recommendations and direction within the Recreation Master Plan will help prioritize investment in recreation infrastructure over the next decade.

The City of St. John’s has released What We Heard reports summarizing findings from public engagement which took place in November and December of 2024 on the development of plans for both the University Area and Cowan Heights neighbourhoods.

The ski and snowshoe trails at Pippy Park are groomed and will open to the public on Saturday, February 1 for users with their own equipment. Pippy Park is transformed into an area suitable for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skate skiing. Trails are free to use and some may be lit for evening use. Weather and snow conditions will affect operations.
Due to construction in Pippy Park, new routes have been developed. See map below.
