On Monday, August 22, thousands of fans crowded the streets of downtown St. John’s to get a glimpse of Stanley Cup champion Alex Newhook. Alex spent his day with the Cup amongst friends and fans here in St. John’s. A comprehensive code of ethics for Councillors and City staff has been on the radar and in the news for many years now.
In 2018, the City received an independent report from the Honourable Clyde K. Wells, K.C. which recommended we repeal and consolidate various by-laws that applied to City employees and Councillors. City crews work around the clock on roads and designated sidewalks during and after a snowstorm. You can help our crews do their job safely and effectively by doing your part and keeping your distance when you see plows or other City vehicles on the roadway.
Parking RestrictionWhen the 24-hour parking restriction is in effect, you cannot park on the street outside the designated downtown area. Vehicles parked on city streets outside downtown may be ticketed and/or towed.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Council considered a series of recommendations from staff regarding the annual Downtown Pedestrian Mall event.
