The scheduled overnight street cleaning in the Downtown will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The program starts on Sunday, April 30 and continues until Friday, September 22. Vehicles must be removed from streets scheduled for cleaning.

Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 since 1970.
To recognize Earth Day this year, the City of St. John’s will partake in an Earth Day flag raising at City Hall at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21.

Due to the presence of sea ice, the Norwegian Dawn – originally scheduled to arrive on Monday, April 24 – has cancelled her visit to St. John’s. The next ship scheduled to arrive in our port is the Silver Shadow, with 388 passengers, on June 6, 2023.

This summer, repairs are planned to rehabilitate the Cantilever Bridge in Bowring Park, with construction scheduled to begin in early May and be completed by the end of July.
The construction project involves concrete rehabilitation, graffiti removal, replacing handrailing, waterproofing and paving the bridge deck.
A heritage consultant was engaged to do a study and offer guidance for the rehabilitation project, in addition to an engineering consultant that was engaged to do structural design.

Due to the St. George’s Day holiday on Monday, April 24, the weekly City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
Garbage and recycling collection will be collected on Monday.
All City paid parking by-laws are still in effect including paid parking regulations as Monday is not a Shops Closing holiday.
