Notice of Registration - 7 Waterford Bridge Road

Take notice that St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 58, 2025, adopted on July 15, 2025 has been registered by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Community Engagement.

In general terms, the purpose of St. John’s Development Regulations Amendment Number 58, 2025, is to rezone land at 7 Waterford Bridge Road from the Residential 1 (R1) Zone to the Apartment 2 (A2) Zone, to allow the development of an Apartment Building.

Cruise Ship Volendam arrives August 10

The Volendam with 1839 passengers is scheduled to arrive in the Port of St. John’s at 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 10, and depart at 3 p.m.

City of St. John’s Reminds Residents of Wise Water Use

As we continue to experience dry conditions this summer, the City of St. John’s reminds residents to use water wisely and follow the year-round Water Conservation Order, which applies to all outdoor water use. While additional conservation measures are not required at this time, water levels are low and it is important that residents comply with the existing order to help protect our shared water resources.

To facilitate cycling events for the 2025 Canada Games, please note the following road closures and lane reductions.

Dates and Times

• Sunday, August 10: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Monday, August 11: 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road Closures

The following roads will be closed during the above-noted times: 

• Team Gushue Highway (Topsail Road to Goldstone Street), including all access points
• George’s Pond Road (Blackmarsh Road to Team Gushue Highway)
• Brier Avenue (New Pennywell Road to Team Gushue Highway)

Recreation Registration - Error with RECconnect Age Categories

We have become aware that some residents have had trouble when registering for recreation programs due to an error in the RECconnect system that is affecting the accurate reading of age categories.

Traffic Advisory - Blackhead Road

7:00 a.m., Monday, August 11 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 12

To facilitate culvert rehabilitation, construction work will occur along the edge of Blackhead Road starting on Monday, August 11 in the following areas:

• Blackhead Road (West of Maddox Cove Road)
• Blackhead Road (East of Blackhead Village Road)

Alternate pedestrian routes will be provided. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site. Slowdowns and delays will be experienced.
