Artist Julie Lewis has been selected to design and paint the Great Fire of 1892 commemorative mural at McBride’s Hill in St. John’s.
Heritage building
The City has awarded over $16,000 to seven residents who applied to the Heritage Financial Incentives Program in 2017. The program aims to conserve heritage by assisting property owners with grants.

Mayor Dennis O’Keefe announced during City Council meeting on Monday, July 24 that the playground to be built at the new Paul Reynolds Community Centre will be named after the late Paul J. Johnson.

SJRFD wishes to advise the general public that with the warm and dry conditions, the Department asks residents to exercise extreme caution when using outdoor fire pits and charcoal BBQs.
The public are advised of increased parking enforcement and safety measures in place, including the addition of two satellite locations to verify winning tickets at Goulds Race Track and RONA.

Aftermath of great fire of 1892, St.John's NL
The City is organizing a weekend of events on July 8 to 9 to commemorate 125 years since the Great Fire of 1892. Events will be held at Bannerman Park, The Rooms and other locations downtown.
Due to the Orangemen’s Day holiday on Monday, July 10, most City offices and facilities will be closed including the Access St. John’s front counter service.
