Team Up to Clean Up

City recreation staff in front of the Mews community centre after they picked up litter

City staff stepped out from behind their work stations for a couple hours on Thursday afternoon, June 2, to help clean up around town.

The fifth annual 'Team Up to Clean Up' event saw nine staff teams, and a team from an external business (thanks to Clean St. John’s!), pick up litter along roadsides and in areas that needed some tidying. Watch a short video of the first City employee clean up in 2012 on our YouTube channel.

While ‘Team Up to Clean Up’ is a once-a-year event City staff volunteer to take part in, we have City staff and contractors that as part of their regular duties clean up garbage and litter from streets, playgrounds, parks and open spaces.

We encourage residents to clean up in your neighbourhood or around your place of work. If you organize a group clean up, register with Clean St. John's and they may be able to provide support.

Thank you to everyone who has voluntarily picked up litter this spring, and residents who regularly keep their property and neighbourhood, and by extension our city, a beautiful and clean place to live.
