Real Tree Drop Off

real Christmas trees dropped off for chipping at large gravel parking lot off The Boulevard in St. John's

This is the last week to drop off natural, undecorated Christmas trees to be chipped and used in future landscaping projects in City parks and open spaces.

Please ensure man-made objects, including rope for bundling or tying on the vehicle are removed before dropping it off as they can damage the chipper. Also, do not de-limb the trees as the chipper is primarily for the wooden trunk of trees and cannot process limbs alone.

Two drop off locations are available :

Large gravel parking lot off The Boulevard near Quidi Vidi Lake
Open 24/7 until Sunday, Jan. 14

Robin Hood Bay Residential Drop Off, 340 East White Hills Road
8 a.m. to 4 p.m., until Saturday, Jan. 13

On average, 3000 trees are dropped off each year for repurposing; 2,500 at Quidi Vidi Lake and 200-300 at Robin Hood Bay. City staff have begun chipping the trees at Quidi Vidi lake and can chip between 600 and 700 trees per day.
